President Message

With great honour and privilege, I accept the responsibility to serve as the first elected president of the APPNA Alberta Chapter. I thank each one of you for putting your trust in me. I will do the best I can for this great organization, our members, and above all, humanity all over the world, guided by the Aims and objectives of the APPNA Alberta Chapter.

I want to thank Dr. Tariq Awan, our founding president, who has successfully and faithfully fulfilled his duties since his inauguration in 2019, despite the significant challenges of the CoVID 19 Pandemic. We will continue to benefit from his ongoing participation in various roles.

I would like to equally recognize and thank the hard work and dedication of all our interim BoDs since the inauguration in 2019, especially Dr. Sameena Bajwa, Dr. Yasmin Majeed, Dr. Abdul Qadir Kamran, Dr. Ashfaq Shuaib, Dr. Khurshid Khan, Dr. Muzaffer Siddiqui. I have learned so much from them and will continue to benefit from their wisdom.

I congratulate our new Executive Committee and BODs, Dr. Tariq Awan, Founding/Immediate Past President; Dr. Sameena Bajwa, President-Elect; Dr. Amir Aslam, General Secretary; Dr. Tehmina Munaf Treasurer, Dr. Abdul Qadir Kamran BOD, and Dr. Hatim Karachiwala BOD. I especially welcome the addition of new young BODs ( Dr. Amir Aslam, Dr. Tehmina Munaf, and Dr. Hatim Karachiwala). I look forward to working with you and learning from you.

I want to thank Dr. Ashfaq Shuaib, the driving force behind the Western Canada Initiative to bring all Pakistani physicians across Western Canada under one platform of APPNA. So if there is any place you want to be this summer of 2022, it has to be Western Canada Conference hosted by APPNA Alberta Chapter, Chaired by Dr. Ashfaq Shuaib, Led by Dr. Yasmin Majeed at the Banff Centre from August 19 & 20, 2022. Join us to experience a high-quality, evidence-based CME, Social networking, dinner, and musical entertainment on Friday and Saturday.

The vision of the APPNA Alberta Chapter is to become the premier organization of physicians of Pakistani descent in Alberta, one which best promotes and serves healthcare, educational, social, and charitable initiatives.

APPNA Alberta Chapter believes in philanthropy, and every year we raise funds for needy people locally in Canada and abroad, especially in Pakistan. With our member’s generous donations, we grew and donated over $25000 during the annual Ramadan fundraiser. Our next fundraiser will be the annual season of giving fundraiser during December. I request all members keep these 2 events in mind while considering donating zakat and general donations yearly.

I want to thank our members who have already committed to supporting the various committees. Each of you has a unique strength; with that combined strength, Inshallah, we will reach our goals. I will request all the other members to step forward and volunteer in whatever capacity they can so our children, future generations, and humanity will benefit from APPNA Alberta Chapter.

I want to ensure that this beautiful country Canada and our motherland Pakistan continue to benefit from our initiatives while we strive to create a positive image in society. Therefore, we must contribute, give back, show our presence, and identify as proud Pakistani Canadian health professionals.

Thank you all.
Long live APPNA,
Long live Canada
